Chinese New Year is like the Super Bowl to the Chinese people.  Every year is assigned a different zodiac animal.  This is the year of the sheep/goat.  I was born in the year of the Rooster.  I can't wait to make cookies for that in a few years.  Do you know what your animal is?

I've never made cookies for the Chinese New Year.  I used the sheep from this cookie cutter set.  Flowers are a popular decoration for the New Year.  I created two different designs on the sheep.  I used the Christmas ornament cookie cutter to make the lanterns.  I followed this tutorial to make the lanterns.
