Tropical Coconut Drinks

I'm not one who likes to drink; I just don't care for the taste of alcohol.  However, nothing screams summer more than a coconut drink.  For my 24th birthday, Kyle took me to this entertaining hip restaurant.  On the drink menu was some alcoholic concoction that was served in a coconut.  I thought that would be the best way to celebrate my birthday, so I ordered it.  Here is the picture of me and that drink (I look so young).  Making coconut drinks has been on my cookie list for awhile now.  I had most of the colors of icing left over from the last two cookie creations, so I went ahead and made some.

I didn't have a coconut drink cutter, so I hand-cut my cookies (I did find this cutter).  Once I had the cookies made, I started out by using a food coloring marker to draw in the hibiscus flower, the opening at the top of the coconut, and the umbrella.

The next step was to outline the coconut with dark brown icing.  I also outlined the umbrella with light blue icing.  I piped and flooded the hibiscus with pink icing.

To create the shading on the hibiscus, I used that same technique I used on my cheetah unicorns.  While the pink icing was still wet, I painted on deep pink airbrush coloring.  Then I took my scribe tool and drew it through the icing to create that hibiscus look.

Once the hibiscus was dry, I flooded the coconut brown.   I took light tan and piped it around the opening of the coconut and filled in the umbrella handle.  After a few minutes, I flooded the rest of the coconut opening white.  I flooded the umbrella blue.  The final touches were adding the yellow stamen, the green straw, and dark blue to the umbrella.
