Cheetah Cookies

Flamenco/Princess Elena of Avalor

There is a new Disney princess named Princess Elena.  I continue to learn new things when I'm asked to make children's birthday cookies.  When I was asked to make these cookies, I was told the theme of the party was Flamenco dance and Princess Elena.  I was happy I could follow the theme.  I was not as excited to make another Disney character.  They are challenging and time consuming to complete.

I don't own a fan cookie cutter.  I stated looking at images of fan cutters to see if I already owned a cutter I could use.  My first thought was a simple circle cutter.  Then I realized I could use a peacock.  I used this cutter and cut off the feet.  To create the lace look, I airbrushed over a piece of lace.  I purchased a six inch piece from Joann's.  It's very cheap and it fits perfectly in the stencil genie

For the dress, I used this cutter. When I was researching flamenco dresses, I saw tons of ruffles.  I knew I wanted to add that detail to the cookie.  I drew a diagonal line on the right side of the dress and didn't flood that area.  I used a 104 flower tip to create the ruffles.

I used a vintage tulip cutter I found at the thrift store to make the rose buds.  I cut the points off the top of the tulip to get the bud look.  For the open roses, I used a cutter similar to this one.

For the guitars, I started by using a piping tip as my guide to trace a circle onto the guitar.  I painted a thin layer of black icing in the circle. Then I outlined the guitar with light brown icing and the neck with dark brown.

Once the brown icing dried, I added the bridge, strings, and the tuning knobs. The airbrushed brown on the edge of the guitar is the finishing touch.
