One-eyed, One-horned, Flyin' purple people eaters
You're are probably saying WHAT? I've had a lot of cookie requests, but this is one of the most fun orders EVER!
My barre instructor's daughter had her dance recital this weekend and one of the songs she danced to was Purple People Eater. I was asked to come up with cookies for the dance. I couldn't pass that challenge up. The little girls had zebra print on their costumes, so I incorporated it into my design.
A few weeks ago, I saw an owl cutter with cute little open wings. When I went looking for that cutter, I could not remember where I had seen it. I had to make do with what I had. I created what we call in the cookie world a Frankencookie. It is the combination of three different cookie cutters pieced together to create one cookie. The picture below shows all three cutters I used. The owl is from this set. The bat is from I set I purchased at my local grocery store a few years ago (sorry, I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet). The unicorn is from here.
For the eyes I used Wilton candy eyes. You can pick them up at any craft store pretty cheap if you have a coupon. To achieve the bright purple color, I mixed Wilton rose and cornflower blue together then add some violet. I've found that Wilton pinks and purples are better than Americolor. It's hard to tell in the photo but I added disco dust to the horns to given them that dance recital glitter.
