Happy Halloween
Hello blog! I've missed you. I've made a ton of cookies and just can't find the time to write about them. Halloween is the perfect time to write a new blog post. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. I was excited to use some new cookie cutters I've acquired and few I've had for awhile. I was inspired by some vintage cookies Arty Mcgoo made. The pumpkin, skull, and spider web came from Sweet Sugarbelle's Halloween set from Michael's. I had to travel to Minnesota to get my set. I know the set was pretty popular, you might be able to find it on EBay. The cat mask can be found here. I'm really happy with how the cats turned out. The idea for the October 31st cookies came from a craft magazine that I just picked up. I love when out of the box ideas can be tuned into cookies.
At the beginning of October, I made Halloween Birthday cookies and wanted to share them. The inspiration for the cookies came from the birthday invitations. The witch cookie cutter came from this set. The ghost cutter is from here. This is not the same one I used but it's pretty close. The invitations had a little Frankenstein boy on them so I purchased this cute cutter is from here. Buntings are popular right now and the cutter is from here. For the pumpkin treat bag, I used the Sweet Sugarbelle pumpkin template as a stencil. It's from the same set as the same set as witch.
A friend gave me the Freddy vs Jason cutter set. There is really only one time a year I can use these cutters, so I didn't want the opportunity to pass. You can pick up the same set here on Amazon. These cookies remind me of my dad. He loves Freddy Krueger. He had a Freddy mask and would sit out in our yard and try to scare kids. He got such a kick out of it. Making the Freddy cookies made me think of him. Both of these cookies really made me think. I had to plan out a strategy on how to achieve the different layers. For Jason I painted the black areas with petal dust and think piped around thing with white icing. I made the mask grungy with paint. I also painted the red marks and added red blood spatter. For Freddy I painted all the red scar areas first then piped over with white icing. When the white had dried I painted it flesh colored. I hope everyone had a fun Halloween.
