We're half way there
Hello, it's been a long time. I didn't drop off the face of the earth. Yes, I've been making cookies this whole time. I wanted to share what I've been up to lately. On April 4th, I started the 100-day Project. What is the 100-day Project? It's about doing something creative like sewing, drawing or painting. In my case, cookies for 100 days. Here is a link to the official website. As the title to this post eludes, today is the half way point. I had lofty plans of post here weekly with my cookie creations, but it's challenging to make a different cookie everyday. My daily post can be found on Instagram at Cheetahcookiesaz.
I had a few reasons why I wanted to join this project. I had just returned from Cookie Con. There were so many wonderful creative people who taught some great classes and I purchased and received a ton of new cookie stuff. I wanted to try out new techniques I learned and use all the new stuff I acquired. I also wanted to challenge myself to create something new for such a long time. I've done smaller 30-day cookie projects in the past for my birthday and Christmas, so I knew this project would really take planning and determination to finish.
I first week of the project was filled with Hawaiian themed cookies. We had just returned from our Spring Break trip to Hawaii and I made these cookies as a Thank You gift to some friends who allowed us to stay with them. Their daughter loves basketball. She reminded me of myself at that age. I LOVED basketball too but she plays much better then I ever did.
The second week of cookies was focused on Easter Cookies. I purchased some royal icing bunnies and chicks that I used in the basket cookies. The stencil I used for the rainbow Easter eggs was from Two-T's stencils. The little bunny face was a free cutter that came in our Cookie Con swag bag from Bobbie's Cookies and Cutters.
This week had a bunch of birthday sets which made this project a bit easier. I didn't have to think about what to make.
I used real flowers on these cookies. This was an idea I've had for about a year now. The flowers came from a local farm. The flowers are very delicate and have to be refrigerated to keep them from wilting, so I would only recommend using real flowers if you are going to immeidatly give the cookies away.
