Super Bowl LIII
It’s Super Bowl time again. Looking back, I was surprised that I didn’t post my cookies from last year. Can I just say that I’m sick of making New England Patriots cookies? Every year it’s the same thing and I was really routing for the Kanas City Chiefs to win. In the 2017 season, my husband and I participated in a fantasy football league and we drafted Todd Gurley. I was skeptical of having him on our team he didn’t have a great season in 2016. I was wrong because Todd Gurley ended up being our best player and we almost won the championship with him. I don’t want to jinx it but I’m rooting for the Rams.
The stadium cookies aren’t anything new. I used this cutter to create them. I didn’t have any of the rainbow Nonpareils so I had to make some. My mix didn’t look right at first then I realized I was missing yellow. Most of the holiday nonpareil mixes don’t have yellow.
I originally purchased the Georgia state cutter when a friend moved there. The cutter can be purchased here. I’ve been able to use the cutter the last few years with the Falcons playing in Super Bowl 51 and now the game back in Atlanta. It’s hard to tell in the image but I used a football stencil on the background. I created the Roman numeral trophy stencil myself.
Last year when I made Super Bowl cookies, I came to realization that I could paint the team logos. In pervious years, I would create the the logos with royal icing. This would take much longer waiting for drying time. Now I pipe and flood the logo shape in white icing and paint the rest. That is how I created the Patriot’s helmet. I don’t know why it took me so long. For the Ram’s I used gold highligher dust for the horn on the helmet.
