Wood Plank Pumpkins
October is pumpkin time! So that clearly means pumpkin cookies. I like to try new things and right now "wood plank" is very popular in the cookie world.
I used this cutter to create these cookies. I used the mini pumpkin from this set to create royal icing transfers.
I traced the cutter on parchment paper and then piped one section of the pumpkin at a time. When that section was still wet, I piped on white dots. I let each section dry for 5 to 10 minutes before piping the next section. I allowed the completed pumpkins to dry for 24 hours before removing them from the parchment paper. I piped some orange icing on the back of the pumpkin to adhere it to the cookie. Then I painted the pumpkin with some brown food coloring to give it some depth.
To create the wood plank I followed this video. This was my first time trying this technique and I wasted three cookies in the process. This is one of those techniques where you work on one cookie at a time. By the last cookie I was getting the hang of it but still have to work on it more. Once the icing had dried I did come back and painted wood with food coloring in some areas.
