Unicorn Project - Plaque
Today's unicorn cookies is inspired by a unicorn night light that my mom made for me. My mom painted ceramics every Wednesday night when I was younger. It was her one night away from me and my sisters. She made me many ceramic unicorns most of them didn't survive. They ended up broken and I was in tears. Part of the night light she made in 1992 is still here. There was a lid with little star shaped holes, but it was broken. The remaining portion (pictured below) now sits on my dresser.
I used a plaque cutter to create these cookies. I piped and flooded the purple like my night light. Then I painted the edge of the cookie gold. I drew the unicorn on with a food coloring marker then piped over it with white icing. To replicate my night light, I painted the horn gold and added some royal icing roses. To add dimension to the unicorn, I painted with purple food coloring around the creases. I added a small blue dot of the eye and some disco dust on the mane and tail.
