As like most kids, I used to put cookies and milk out for Santa Claus every year. My mom always made a large variety of cookies every year that I could give to Santa. Three of my favorites are Spritz, Russian tea cakes, and Pizzelles. Do you have a favorite Christmas cookie? To make the "cookie" cookies, I used a circle cookie cutter and this milk bottle. For the chocolate chip cookies, I piped and flooded with a light brown icing, allowing it to dry overnight. The next day, I took a darker brown color to pipe on the chips. The milk bottle was created by piping and flooding the bottle light blue and the milk portion white. The next day, I took red piping icing to add the word "Milk".
Did you ever have a pickle ornament? You hide the pickle on the tree and finder receives an extra present from Santa or good luck in the new year. This American tradition came from Germany. I drew out a pickle shape on paper and then hand-cut the cookies. You can get a pickle cookie cutter here. I piped and flooded the pickles with a light green icing. while it was still wet, I added the darker green lines. The next day I added the light green dots.
I hope Santa loves his Christmas cookies.
