Living in Arizona we rarely see snow. This was quite a change for me when I moved here. Growing up in Minnesota, snow was a winter staple. A few of my favorite things to do in the snow were building snow forts, and sledding down the Johnson High School hill with the neighbor kids. It's funny how as a kid you can't wait for it to snow, and as an adult you never want it to snow.
I like making snowflake cookies because they can be very elaborate or really simple. These snowflake cookies were pretty simple. I used one of the smaller snowflake cutter from this set, but this design can be used on any snowflake cookie cutter. I started out by piping and flooding the cookie with royal blue icing. I allowed it to dry overnight. The next day with piping icing I piped on the snowflake. I just made straight lines going from point to point. Then I connected all the lines in a star shape. While the icing was still wet, I covered it with white sanding sugar.
