Yesterday was the 98th birthday of the National Park Service. I thought it was today, but I was wrong. Oh well, Happy Birthday National Park Service! One of my favorite things on earth other than making cookies is visiting National Parks. My husband and I have the lofty goal of visiting all the National Parks and National Monuments before we die. We have a pretty good start so far, but still have many to visit. I have some photo of our National Park adventures. As you will see, we were taking selfies before they were called that. I don't have a favorite National Park they are all great in their own way. When I'm in a National Park, that one is my favorite. How many National Parks have you visited? Which one is your favorite?
To make this cookie, I used this shield cookie cutter and then used a knife to create a jagged edge. I added some extra dough to the top to make the arrowhead complete. I had left-over orange and green icing and darkened them with terracotta and forest green food coloring gel. Then I just replicated the logo free-hand. I didn't recreate all the detail in the logo - I didn't want it to be perfect. Happy belated birthday National Park Service!
