Burlap Pumpkins

I love Fall because it is pumpkin season.  There are so many different ways to decorate pumpkin cookies.  I wanted to try making some pretty pumpkins this year.

I purchased this pumpkin cutter from Whisked Away Cutters.  I started out by piping the outline and three sections on the pumpkin.

I flooded the two outer sections first.  Once those two sections dried, I filled in the middle section.  I added the brown stem at this time too.

When the whole cookie was dry, I piped on the the burlap.  I started out by piping a horizontal line across the pumpkin.  Then I piped small vertical lines coming off the horizontal line, creating the first row of the burlap.  At the bottom of those vertical lines, I piped another horizontal line.  I piped another set of vertical lines placing them in between the vertical lines of the row above.  I repeated this process until I covered the whole desired area.

While I was at Cookie Con I saw tons of molds for sale.  It's a great way to add dimension to cookies.  I used this mold to make the roses.  I wanted to make fall colored roses, but only had white wafers.  After I removed the roses from the mold, I painted them with food coloring.  I also painted the creases of the pumpkins and stems.
