This past weekend I made woodland cookies for a little girl's fifth birthday. I had such fun making these cookies.
One cookie I knew that I wanted to make was a tree stump. I hand-cut the cookies using this picture as my template. I piped the light brown upper section first and immediately added the darker brown for the rings. I also piped a small area of light brown for the knot. I spread that icing very thin with a butter knife. Then I piped and flooded the rest of the stump with dark brown. I let the icing set for a minute or two then I ran the butter knife through the icing to create the bark effect. I piped grass and a small mushroom around the base of the stump. The finishing touches were painting on more rings on the top and in the knot. I added a tiny amount of moss too.
