Cookies sticks are growing in popularity; they are a slender shape that you can put anything on. They are great way to create more interest in any cookie set. After seeing some other people make cookie sticks, I knew I needed to get my hands on one of the cutters. For my birthday my sister gave me this one. Back when I was working on my unicorn project, I made a these unicorn sticks. I was thinking how could use the cookie sticks in a fun way for Halloween. I came up with pumpkin faces using a stick for the eyes, noses and mouth.
This project is very kid-friendly and would be great for Halloween parties. These cookies can be made in a various number of ways. I piped and flooded the cookies orange, and then piped on the faces. If you wanted to use these at a Halloween party, you could pipe and flood orange and then let the kids use black food coloring markers to draw on their own faces. I made the cookies ahead of time to make a game out of it. Kids can create different face combinations, and see who can make the most and who can come up with the scariest or funniest face.
You can make this project simpler by coloring the cookie dough with orange, so you don't have to do that step in the process.
Airbrushing is another possibility for these cookies. If you don't want to mix icing colors, pipe and flood the cookies white and airbrush them orange and use a pumpkin face stencil. There are so many different ways to make these cookies. Anyway you make them they will turn out great!
