Unicorn Project - Scalloped Square

The image of unicorns in the clouds is pretty common.  I knew that I wanted make cookies that had a unicorn in the sky.  I wanted to try the technique of air brushing clouds.  I've never airbrushed clouds before so this was new for me.

I used this scalloped cookie cutter.  This is a copper cutter so it costs a bit more.  If you have a plastic or tin one, that will work fine.  I piped and flooded the cookie with white icing.  I allowed it to dry for 24 hours because of the air brushing.  I cut out a cloud shape from a piece of card-stock.  I used the card-stock to create the cloud pattern.  I started at the top of the cookie and laid the cloud stencil down, spraying and then moving it down the cookie.  My clouds didn't turn out very well.  Here is a video of how the technique is created.

Once the cookies were airbrushed, I had a cut-out unicorn shape that I traced on the cookie with a food coloring marker.  Then I piped the tracing with white icing.  When the unicorn dried, I used the black food coloring marker to add all the details to the unicorn.  I painted gold air brush sheen on the hooves and horn.  Finally I added piping on a small cloud at the bottom of the cookies to give the appearance of sky.
