I was so in love with the dream catchers I made the other day that I made some more to go with today's unicorns. I really love the whole bohemian vibe; it's young and fresh. The unicorn dream catchers from last week inspired me to make the traditional ones as well. I'm very happy that I was able to cross another item off my cookie "bucket list".
I used the unicorn head from this set. I piped and flooded the whole cookie with white icing. I was going to cover the while unicorn with triangles like these cookies. I used this stencil to create the pattern. After airbrushing, I used light pink icing to pipe on arrows and dots.
To make the dreamcatchers, I used the octopus cutter from this set and a circle. I cut the head off the octopus and attached the circle. That sounds brutal, but it's really not. If you want to make a more traditional (tear drop shaped) dreamcatcher, just use the octopus. I have a picture below of how I started to decorate the dreamcatchers. First I piped a small circle in the center and started to create the atom shape. I did this part to look as if the webbing was inside or under the outer loop.
Once I had progressed around the whole cookie, I took dark brown and piped around the outer edge of the circle to create the hoop. I took blue, purple and pink and piped some dots on the webbing randomly to look like beads. I piped small lines from the webbing over the dark brown to make it look like the webbing was attached to the hoop. Then I piped four lines coming down from the hoop. At the end of each line I made a feather. To achieve the feather, I piped a blob and used my scribe tool to form it into a feather shape. Again, I added some beades. I painted some of them with gold luster dust. I really love how these cookies turned out.
