Obviously, there aren't any real pictures of unicorns. All images of unicorns today are some kind of drawing or cartoon. Growing up I would watch The Last Unicorn. It was a cartoon movie about a unicorn searching for other unicorns and it was my favorite movie as a kid. I think it's the reason I still love unicorns today.
This cookie cutter is actually not a unicorn; it's a horse. I knew that it would make a wonderful unicorn. This is the cutter I used. Once I had cut out the cookie, I cut a horn by hand and attached it before backing. I wanted to keep these cookies pretty simple like most cartoons. The first thing I did was take a food coloring marker and I drew on the snout. I piped and flooded the body in white leaving the snout, hooves, tail, and mane un-iced. I also iced the white part of the horn. Once the white was dry, I added pink to all the un-iced areas. The final touches were the eyes, nostrils, ears, and tail detail.
