I'm always excited when this time of year rolls around because school is out for summer. This last semester was a tough one for me. I'm so happy to be done and be able to put my energy toward making cookies.
I made these cookies for a friend who graduated from the Yavapai College Canine Program. The program teaches canine training and handling skills.
I made three different dog breeds: Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, and Golden Retrievers. I used the same dog cutter for all three dogs, although I modified the tail on each breed. I added pointed ears for the Border Collies. For the Australian Shepherds, I piped the grey section first and added tan tan while the grey was still wet. When it was dry, I took black food coloring and splatter it on for the spots. Then I filled in the white area. For the Golden Retrievers, I piped and flooded the dogs with a light yellowish brown. Once dry, I airbrushed the dogs with yellow and warm brown to give them the golden color.
