Happy Fourth of July! Unicorns love July 4th because it's one of the few days a year we can all get along. So naturally I incorporated a Fourth of July theme into my unicorn project.
To create these patriotic unicorns, I used this cookie cutter. I piped and flooded the cookie with white icing. Once the icing was dry, I took red, white, and blue icing and swirled it together for the mane. I iced the horn with white icing then when it dried, I painted it with gold airbrush sheen. Then I piped white icing lines on the horn and covered the lines with patriotic nonpareils. I added a black dot for the eye. The rest of the facial features were drawn on with a food coloring marker.
You may be saying, "where are the tradition Fourth of July cookies?" I did squeeze in one. The inspiration for this cookie came form this image I found on Pinterest. I like the stripes and the use of script writing. I felt the design could easily translate into cookie form. I used this cookie cutter to make it. I piped and flooded the cookie with white icing. When the icing was dry, I used this stencil to airbrush the stripes. Then I used a food coloring marker to write the words. It's hard to create the "thicks and thins" of script writing with icing, but I tried my best.
