This past weekend was a big one for those graduating from college. Many schools, like Yavapai College, had their commencement ceremonies. I walked in the ceremony with a degree in Graphic Design. I never planned on getting another degree. I was interested in Photography and started taking classes. I only needed to take a couple more Graphic Design classes to obtain a degree.
One of the commencement speakers said something that I wish all college freshmen could hear. She said, "just because you qualify for student loans, doesn't mean you should take them. You have no idea how badly that will affect your life once you finish with all your degrees". One of the best things about community colleges is that they are incredibility affordable.
If you want a graduation owl cookie cutter you can find one here. This is not the cookie cutter I used, because I already own a few different owl cookie cutters. I purchased this mini graduation cap cutter and made my own graduation owl. I used the two cookie cutters and combined the cut-out cookies before baking. I like the way I made the owl because you can change it up with different owl shapes. The owl cutter I used can be purchased here. To decorate the owl, I piped and flooded the hat first. I took a food coloring maker and drew the section for the stomach. I piped and flooded that with yellow icing. While the icing was still wet, I added green lines. I used my scribe tool to pull down through the icing to create the effect.
I used this cookie cutter for the graduation cap. I didn't do anything special with the caps. I made the tassels green and yellow our school colors. I used this plaque cookie cutter to create the class of 2015 cookie.
