I made these Moana cookies for a friend’s daughter’s birthday party. I’ve never seen the movie but maybe someday I will. I was in Hawaii for the first time in March. My sister wanted me to find a Moana necklace for my niece. I was able to find something similar at the farmer’s market in Hilo. She was excited to get the necklace but it broke almost immediately.
On the way home to Arizona from Honolulu, the plane was really cold. I purchased a Moana-themed blanket on board the Hawaiian Airlines flight. I gave it to my niece with the necklace and she loved it.
I didn’t want to make purely Moana cookies so I incorporated some grass skirts and sea shells. For the grass skirt cookies, I used a birthday present cutter. Scarlet’s favorite cookie was the pig that I made using Moana clip art that I purchased from here and I hand-cut. My favorite cookie was the HeiHei rooster.
