Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day!  I was really excited to make these cookies for a party for a man who was just accepted into the Air Force.  The theme for these cookies is stencils. I used a stencil on almost all of these.

If you’re like me, making flag cookies is a daunting task.  I try hard to not be a perfectionist but when the strips are not straight, it drives me crazy.  Ever since I purchased this stencil, making flag cookies has become a breeze.  To create the camouflage stars, I again used a stencil.  I iced the stars with white icing and then airbrushed it with warm brown.  I only used two parts of this stencil.  I used avocado green and combined royal blue and black to create a slate blue color.

When I researched the Air Force, the Air Force logo was the first thing that came up.  With the logo being simple with straight lines and a circle, I knew that I could make my own stencil.  I used my Silhouette Portrait.  I stenciled the logo with royal icing.  I used this stencil to create the cloud background for the helicopters and purchased a helicopter shape from the Silhouette store to make a helicopter stencil.  For the Air Force men, I used clip-art that I purchased from SrappinDoodles.  This is where you can find the clip-art.
