I think that one of the greatest things about being an adult is eating candy whenever you want. I hated when I was a kid my parents would take all my Halloween candy and eat it for themselves. They would only give me one or two pieces a day in my lunch. My dad would always take my sister and me out trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. I loved when we would return home and dump all our candy on the kitchen table and sort it. My dad would take all the reject candy (Almond Joy or Mounds Bars) to work to share with his co-workers.
To make the plaque cookies I used this cutter. I really liked how the "E" royal icing transfers worked out when I made the teapots, so I gave it another shot. I printed out the "EAT" in the font call Didot. It's one of my favorite fonts. The background of the cookie was airbrushed using this stencil.
The ruffle pumpkins came from Georganne Bell AKA Lila Loa new book The Cookie Companion. If you want to figure out how to make these wonderful cookies, then go get the book.
I don't mind spiders when they are outside. If there is a spider in my house I want nothing to do with it. I always make Kyle kill it. Last month we found a black widow out in our storage closet and that was the one time we had to kill a spider outside our house. The idea for these cookies came from the Cookie Countess website. To make these spider cookies I used this cutter. I piped and flooded the cookie white. Once dry, I airbrush on the polka dot background. I used this stencil for the background. I then stenciled with royal icing the spiders. I used this stencil. I don't stencil with royal icing every often, this time it went pretty well, I only made a few small mistakes.
I'm really into using molds since I returned from Cookie Con. I purchased this Lolita Day of the Dead Skull Cameo from here. I used Wilton candy melts in black and bright white to create the cameos. This was a pretty small mold so I used a paintbrush and scribe tool to get the white in the correct spots. It took a few tries to get it. I would recommend ordering the larger size mold. Plan plenty of time to make these since you can only make one at a time. It took me a week to make enough for this set. I made two to three cameos a day. I Hope everyone had a very Happy Halloween!
