Every Thanksgiving my dad would carve the turkey. He would always save the wishbone for us. Curious where the wishbone-cracking custom came from? It all started with the Romans, who pulled apart chicken clavicles hoping for good fortune. We continue this same tradition today.
I found this cookie cutter at Fancy Flours and fell in love with it (you can find it here). I thought it was a fun Thanksgiving cookie cutter. These cookies are simple to make. I piped and flooded them with white icing and allowed them to dry for twenty four hours. The next day I used ivory food coloring mixed with some alcohol to paint on the shadowing. I also painted on "Wish Big" with black food coloring. That's it! Another simple cookie that can make a big statement on your Thanksgiving table.
Make sure you find the wishbone in your turkey and make a BIG wish. If you don't know how it works, it's simple. Each person grabs an end of the wishbone giving it a yank. If you get the bigger piece, your wish will be granted.
