Stenciled Flag

Stenicled Flag Cookie

Happy Fourth of July!  I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday.  The Fourth of July is symbolized by the American flag.  I tried to make a variety of flags this year, and this cookie as an addition to my Fourth of July cookie collection.  I found this design for my Silhouette portrait and immediately thought it would make a fantastic stencil.  The graphic designer in me loves all the different typography.  I didn't resize the design, so this cookie is huge.  The cookie is 4x6.  I just drew out the shape on graph paper and I hand cut the cookie.  Then I cut out the design with my Silhouette.  I used  Wilton's Color Mist  again to create the design.  I overlooked the open space in the letter and was going to scrap the project.  Then I decided that it would still be very readable even with some letters being solid.  The greatest difficultly in creating this cookies was the masking off of each line so the colors wouldn't bleed.  It became hard when a line had an ascender or descender.  Then I had to make special adjustments to mask.  Then once a line was masked off it became difficult to line up the next line, you can see how crocked some of the lines are.  Let's just say it took much longer then I expected to make this cookie.  I'm very proud of this flag cookie and hope it brings a smile to everyone's face this Fourth of July.
