I have always loved Flamingos. I painted them as my last project for Graphic Design at Yavapai College (see below). I enjoy the bright colors (especially pink). When I was a kid I wanted to be able to fly away like a bird whenever I wanted. I could see the world without tight security and cramped leg room. The Flamingo is the bird I would want to be. They are beautiful and strut with elegance.
I made the cookies for my classmates on the last day of class. I'll be graduating in Graphic Design and will be walking in the ceremony on Saturday. I used this cookie cutter to make the cookies. I used the same flamingo shape that I drew for my painting for the cookies. I wanted the cookies to be colorful like my painting. I wanted the background to be unique. I was going to airbrush a pattern, but when icing the green cookie some blue icing spilled on the cookies. I had to work with what I had. I took my scribe tool and swirled the icing around. Then I recreated the same wet on wet design on all the other cookies.
I've wanted to make flamingo cookies for awhile now. I'm really happy I was able to share them with my classmates on the last day of school.
