St. Nicholas Day is celebrated at the beginning of December. It can easily be overlooked but it's one of my fondest Christmas time memories. St. Nicholas is known for his secret gift giving and gained a reputation for leaving coins in people’s shoes. This is where the tradition of putting a shoe or boot by the fireplace or front door and finding it full of candy, gifts and treasure.
Having a soft spot of St. Nicholas, I purchased this cutter after I saw Bridget from Bake at 350 use it last year. I love the shape of the cutter and see it becoming St. Patrick in a few months. I used sanding sugar for St. Nick’s coat and hat and for his beard I used a Wilton 14 star tip. I used black petal dust to add some grey coloring to his beard a give him rosy checks. Here is a picture of what St. Nicolas left my husband. I hope St. Nicholas left you a special treat in your shoe today.
