The first week of the 100 day project is complete. Here are the inspiring women the I created in cookie form this week.
I started with Cleopatra because she was the oldest woman historically that was on my list.
I had Maya Angelou on my list but was not planning on making her this early in the project. I saw her Google doodle celebrating her 90th birthday and new I had make her to celebrate.
I'm using the same cookie cutter for all of these cookies. When it came to Queen Elizabeth, the dress was not big or grand enough. To create this royal dress with a cookies that was already cut out, I laid the cookie on top of some wax paper. I piped some black icing next to the cookie and used a off-set spatula to smooth it to connect to the cookie to give it a more dress shape. I allowed this icing to dry and then piped her dress. Once all the icing was dry, I peeled her off the wax paper.
I loved reading the Little House on the Prairie books when I was young. I added her to my list of women late but she had to be one of the first I made.
I was apprehensive about Annie Oakley with all the disunity about guns these days. I'm really happy I did her. I'd love to make a stop motion video with her.
Frida is my favorite from the first week.
A few things from the first week that I struggled with were skin tone. I didn't think about that before the project. It was my biggest struggle this week and I feel will be throughout this project. The arms and feet have been giving me problems too. I'm having trouble as to were to place them. I don't know if I've learned anything this week other then I love this project.
